Oregon WI is a village just 20 minutes south of Madison that despite its closeness to the city has managed to maintain its own individual character since 1843 when it was founded-- some seven years later than Madison itself. Oregon was originally known as Rome Corners but in 1864, the Chicago and North Western railroad identified the village as “Oregon” in their maps and the new name stuck. Today, Oregon WI homes of all sizes and prices make up the village and Rome Corners is but a distant memory.
